Brief 1: Badger Creek Brewery - Wax sealing the bottle

The glass bottles have been spray painted matt black and dipped in wax for an alluring aesthetic. These beers are aimed towards a high end market and there needed some further hand crafting to justify a higher than normal price point. By using a black matt colour as the canvas for the colour in the labels to stand out, much more attention is brought to the contents of the beers which are represented by the colour. I wanted to give the impression of flavours merging in the bottle and on the palette.

The black wax is there to emulate a sophisticated and luxury product that should be enjoyed slowly, this was inspired by my visual research into wines which are often considered to be branded for the luxury alcohol market market.

Step 1

Spraying the bottles with a matt white took 3 coats and around an hour in the booth.

Step 2- "That is not the intended use"

At this stage I had searched for days for black candles that were coloured through the candle, not just dipped on the outside. I found a crystal healing store in Leeds centre and bought these "ritual candles" from a lady who was not happy I was not using them for their intended use of quote "healing, chanting or cursing".

Step 3 - Dip, dry, dip, dry...
Cutting them down for an even melt on the hob using glass bowls and a ramekin.

It took around 30 dips per bottle at around 1 hour 40 minutes including drying time to achieve the final effect. These look amazing and very suited to the high end limited edition aesthetic I am trying to achieve.
