Brief 17: Blisters - Creating the poster

In order to create the woodblock type aesthetic through the medium of screenprint, I used wooden type and printed them by hand onto a crisp white stock. I was then able to scan the letterforms into the computer and alter the layout to a much more precise replica of what was layed out on the table.

Producing the posters developed my skills in printmaking very rapidly as I was using three different processes to get the final outcome.

This digital layout of the type was produced in Photoshop, this guaranteed a perfect exposure to the screen before printing the ink onto the stock. I could adjust the layout with ease and speed, increasing the number of prints I could produce in the time available.

Whilst producing a number of the screenprints I adopted the concept of combining a monoprinting technique to add colour rather than having the artwork as a 2 colour screenprint. This adds depth and texture to the print.
