Design Context Publication

I have began to focus on something which, over the course of the past 3 years, has had a big impact on my career.

At the beginning of the year, I wrote a short piece for Food& which spoke of food and beer within the Leeds areas, this led onto my COP3 module dissertation. After the context of practice module for which I studied into the design, branding and identity within the beer industry, I have realised that this is something that has always inspired me to be creative. I wish to celebrate the small pockets of creativity which are placed onto small labels and influence us to purchase one bottle over the one next to it.

Beer has become a source of a networking, deep research and a blog which ties together my overall professional portfolio. Artists such as Karl Grandin and breweries such as Mikkeller which have contemporary forward thinking tone of voices and aesthetics have inspired me to be who I want to be and not design for anyone else. I know that I can find my place in this niche market and I will try very hard to get to the stage where I am known for my artwork.

At this stage, a label of some sort and/or a zine which celebrates all the labels which have caught my eye or played a big part in my design decisions would be appropriate. Wrapping the publication in a poster or belly band containing all the beers which I have reviewed, sampled or tasted will be an option I can explore.
