My research began by looking into artwork surround the band Bright Eyes, as soon as I read the brief I wanted to work with the song “First Day Of My Life”. This band was present throughout my personal development prior to University and I wanted a way of creating a visual representation of it’s meaning.
Having a both visual and sound based references for the band helped generate a development from using screen printing to woodblock type and rolling ink. It wasn’t until producing the prints that it was evident that combining all three techniques into one print was an effective way of getting the aesthetic I wanted.
Blisters is held in a wharehouse with exposed and painted brickwork, I noted that it was important to show how the prints would look in this environment and therefore shot the final photos as close to this as I felt I could. This helped show the judges the print in context.
