After looking into techniques of setting up a brand including how best to create a name and logo, I have named my brand as ODDJELLY. There
is a gap in the market for design led jelly packaging, by looking to the
Etsy and DIY areas of my target market I hope to capture the imagination
of creatives and homemakers alike.
Rationale:
ODDJELLY provides jelly in odd flavours for a contemporary aesthetic to any occasion.
ODDJELLY comes in packs of three.
ODDJELLY has a bold fun and contemporary aesthetic comprising of bright packaging and unusual shapes.
ODDJELLY aims at a 18-25 year old young professionals market.
ODDJELLY will become the primary source of jelly at events, conferences, shows and home based parties.
I have taken inspiration from illustrators such as Mike Parry and Kate Morross for the actual products, whereas the aesthetic will take notes from the Scandinavian home ware product ranges that can be seen on design websites.
Logo
The process for this logo took some time as the weight of each letter became the sole way in separating the two words. I took the OSP-DIN font, adjusted the kerning, weight and height of each letter individually to find the perfect balance for the logotype. Once this was done, I decreased the size of each counter in the word "ODD", this meant that the ascender height for each letter remains balanced but the bold aesthetic is still present.
