Brief 10: A Very Alternative Christmas - Day Brief

Brief

Work

The bell shape is not legible, this needs to be changed after a mini power crit with a few of my peers. David suggested that it is not heavy enough type, Lizzi suggested that the bell shape would be great to explore.

Once I was happy with the layout, I asked advice of my peers who suggested that some negative space could be utilised to add a bit of depth to the artwork. This is evident in the final resolution.

the Red areas show the changes needed to be made in order to give a bell shape at the bottom of the image.

The development of this artwork took shape over the course of a day, this was to ahere to a tight print deadline. After putting the letter forms on the canvas, I discovered that it would help to have a vectored shape to trace.

Back to the drawing board to refine the scripted type, it needs to be heavier in weight and fit around the the bell in a much neater way. I am happy with the bell in the middle. I repeatedly went over my lines and digital bell shape which I produced in illustrator, this repetition fine tuned the overall look of the letters and made me much more competent.
