The basic diamond shape has been created easily, however I was concerned that there should be some shading or sense of dimension to the diamonds. When I thought about the pattern being repeated over an A2 size piece of stock, the flat diamond could over power the type, adding some transparency to it will hopefully help avoid this.
The effect of the repeated pattern works well to give a big impact on the page, ultimately this will be blue ink on a crisp white stock.
A close up reveals the detasil in blue, it is hard to see on screen how the ink will push through onto the paper but I am confident that I have left enough space between each graphic.
Plenty of space for some 14pt type for the date and venue, this was a concern originally that the details would be over powered by solid blocks of colour but the white space around the type has given it a place on the page.
Finished mock up before going to print the separations for screen printing, I am at this stage very happy with the poster and have put it into the public domain to receive some attention. The Boxer Rebellion are a strong big band that have played on Jay Leno and are doing a world tour so it would be great to have my poster with them
A bit of exposure with a huge band can't be a bad thing, I will be handing the posters over on the night of the gig.
